This course provides a broad introduction to the form and function of databases, with an emphasis on relational databases in SQL. Within this course, we will learn how to use data structures and algorithms to meaningfully manipulate data within a database. Additionally, we will learn how to administer a database and create SQL queries. This course is important because of the prevalence of databases in both the internet and local applications. For example, a LAMP stack is a common implementation of web development software that uses Linux, Apache, MySQL (a database management system) and PHP. This course also teaches about other, newer database software and concepts.
